This novel is based on true fact. On monday , september 6th 1976 , a lone Russian pilot stole a Mikoyan MiG 25 aiecraft (NATO Codename ; Foxbat ) from his home Soviet base near Vladivostock , and flew to a civilian airport of Hakodate , in Northern Japan , where he demanded political asylum. This novel is a fictional account of events leading up to this and what happened afterwards.
