Laura Crum, who has raised horses for over twenty years, has also consistently wrangled her love and knowledge of horses into her compelling mysteries featuring horse veterinarian Gale McCarthy. In Forged, McCarthy returns home, worried the habitually late horseshoer will have failed to show up again. To her relief, McCarthy finds his truck parked in the driveway. The only problem is that the horse--shoer himself is lying in the barn with a bullet in his gut. Forged is a strong addition to what Library Journal calls 'a good series bet.'
