Malaya, 1948. Liz Hammond and her mother Blanche are returning to the rubberplantation they were forced to abandon at the outbreak of war. Liz's fatherhas arranged to meet them in Singapore, but he fails to do so and the twowomen have to make their way to Malaya under military protection. During thereturning to her father's rubber plantation, Liz falls in love with theyoung guardsman assigned to her.
