James Hadley Chase is probably the best know synonym of Rene Lodge Brabazon Raymond, an English writer also known by other pen names, including James L. Docherty, Raymond Marshall, R. Raymond, and Ambrose Grant. He is one of the best known thriller writers of all time. He was influenced by American crime writes and writers of hardboiled pulp fiction, but he rarely visited the United States and the books are based on knowledge acquired by reading and using reference materials. He has written some 90 books, almost half of which have been made into movies.
"I'll Get You for This" is the story of Chester Cain, a professional gambler and gunman, who goes to Paradise Palms to enjoy a vacation after earning money for killing 5 men in self-defense. He is shown great hospitality and he meets Claire, a local beauty, but things turn into a nightmare when he is accused of murdering a political leader. It is a frame-up, but now he has to go on the run with Claire, and learns that the entire city administration is involved in a scam for which he has been made the fall guy.
This is an action packed thriller that was made into a movie by the same name in the UK, released in the US as "Lucky Nick Cain."
