World War II is now over and Diana Poultney, having helped to run her father-in-law's haulage business while her husband was fighting, has to return to "a woman's place" in the home. But in the midst of domestic squabbles, the haulage business is under threat of take-over, and it is up to Diana to turn it around and once again save the family's livelihood.
