G.K. Chesterton is generally remembered as the author of the Father Brown detective stories, but in the 1920s and 30s he was regarded as one of the major religious writers of the day, and was a great influence on C.S. Lewis. He wrote for the man on the street, seeking to bring Christian truth and questions of religious, business and political ethics to a wider audience.
