(2011)
(The first book in the Link Dixon series)
A novel by

After the death of his wife, Link Dixon leaves Dallas PD to move to his small hometown of Cartersville, Texas and the Victorian home he's inherited. The cut in pay and demotion in status to a deputy sheriff on night patrol will be worthwhile if it helps his solemn young son, Jason, smile again. Link believes growing up among extended family will benefit his son and help the boy recover from his mother's death. So far, it's working for both Jason and Link, even though Link fights the feeling he's a visitor. He loves his home, but is constantly making repairs, definitely not his expertise or pleasure. Link loves being near his parents and four sisters, niece, and nephews. Jason is overjoyed to surround himself with cousins and neighbors. It can be a good life, in spite of the trouble his worthless cousin Virgil Lee creates. But an old acquaintance from his Dallas days recruits Link for undercover work in addition to his job as deputy. Link is not intereasted until he realizes he has to do his part to insure his hometown is a safe place for Jason and Link's family. When did Mayberry become America's Most Wanted? When it looks as if he's failed, Link is rescued by his friend Vince and Vince's sister Anna, but without his simple-minded friend, Coy Carter, Link would never have escaped being framed for murder. And who would dream Virgil Lee holds one of the keys to retibution for two murders?
