The laconic L.A. private investigator Mike Faraday is hired to find out who is behind an apparently trivial series of thefts in the home of Madame Azelma, the aged millionairess. Faraday's lonely trail leads to blackmail and, inevitably, murder. The beautiful Zelda Frain takes refuge in Mike's arms while the soothing presence of Stella in the office, as always, provides the only constant in his violent life.
