Story of Lord Jack Rotham, who must marry quickly in order to be eligible for his great-uncle's will. He wagers he can find a wife in the fan lottery at his grandmother's ball, but the fan he picks belongs to Mrs. Claire Ellison. She'd suffered one appaling marriage and does not want another.
