The Man Who Saw the Face of the World

(2018)
A novel by

His name is James Wisden. For years now, he's done the dirty work of the world's most elite criminals and governments. He's helped spread carnage on every continent. He's been responsible for countless deaths, and for the downfalls of several nations. But now he's dying, and there are rumors that he's lost his mind. There are other rumors, too. Some people even say that James Wisden wants to atone for his sins.

Sophie Ash has been on the run for several years. For some of that time, she tagged along with Wisden and learned from him. Now she's ready to give herself up, but when she returns to Britain she's shocked by the welcome she receives. Powerful people want to track James Wisden down, and they see Sophie as their last, best chance. At first she refuses, but then a terrible explosion rips through a Swiss cafe, killing scores of people. And there's no doubt that James Wisden personally planted the device.

Soon Sophie is sent on a cat and mouse game across Europe, helping to hunt down her former lover. But is Wisden really insane, or does he have a plan to bring down his former paymasters? When a man has lost sight of the difference between right and wrong, and between good and evil, how can he ever hope to save the world? And when another bomb is primed to explode, will Sophie turn against the man she once loved?
