The three children of Deer Dancer and Wind Caller are reaching young adulthood, and the Yellow Grass People have suffered a long period of drought. Desperate to appease the angry gods, the people blame Wind Caller and kill him. Deer Dancer leaves the children to wander. Aided by their mystical gifts, the trio separates for a time only to be reunited in a dramatic confrontation.
