The Scented Garden of Abdullah the Satirist of Shiraz
(1910)A collection of stories by
Aleister Crowley
Crowley's long-unobtainable mystical classic, often referred to under its Persian title of Bagh-i-Muattar . Originally issued in 1910 in a private edition of 200 copies, many of which were destroyed by British Customs on the grounds of obscenity, it is today among the rarest of the first editions of Crowley, who discreetly described it thus: "Under the figure of the amorous adventures of a Sufi Poet and his cupbearer, the relations between God and the soul are set forth." Crowley wittily combines his profound knowledge of occultism, Eastern lore and sexuality.
