R. L. Stine is the author of the popular "Goosebumps" series, scary books for readers 8 to 12. Stine also has a series called "Fear Street" for readers 9 to 14. In 2000, he started a new series called "Nightmare Room." Stine's "Goosebumps" series has sold so well that he is listed in the Guinness Book of World Records as having the top-selling children's book series. An interesting fact about Stine is that he started his career by writing humor. In high school he wrote a book called Lovable Bear and in college he worked on a humor magazine called Sundial. After graduation from college, Stine became a teacher. He then moved to New York and found writing jobs at magazines. He wrote mainly funny stories. His first published book was called How to be Funny. He wrote twenty-five funny books under his college nickname of Jovail Bob Stine. In 1986 he wrote a horror book called Blind Date. When it became a success, he wrote other scary stories which made him famous. Stine writes six days a week, usually with a skeleton looking over his shoulder! Reviewer: Della A. Yannuzzi
