At least two strippers picketing a Myrtle Beach, SC, topless club over health benefits have disappeared, and one of them is lifeguard Susan Chase's dumb-blond friend. Already a licensed part-time locator of runaways, hardheaded Susan revs up for a prolonged search, alienating her current rich boyfriend in the process. Susan goes straight for the throat: she badgers club bouncers, threatens the club owner, and tracks the women back into their pasts. Plenty of action accompanies this in-your-face, likable heroine (Color Her Dead), while the borderline salacious subject matter and attendant subplots provide reader motivation.
