Sara Blayne was born and reared in Las Vegas, New Mexico, a stopover on the Santa Fe Trail nestled in the foothills of the Sangre de Cristo Mountains. She graduated with a BA and MA from Eastern New Mexico University in Portales, New Mexico, where she met and married her husband Steve. She taught Freshman English at ENMU for five years.
