The good news is, there's life after death. However.. For boxer Joey Castelo, afterlife is a nightmare of slavery and savage gladiatorial combat, as he and his master become members of a traveling troupe that is part of an underworld boxing circuit. While fighting for his identity against his own savage shadow - a symbol of the blind rage which he must learn to forget - Castelo becomes drawn into the dark web of the Shadowlands. Joey discovers that the lonely impressario of the troupe has problems of her own, secrets which make her a target for a sinister collection of spectres, vampires, psychics, and exorcists. Soon Joey and his companions are running for their lives, in a desperate odysseythat takes them across America and into the hellish dimensions that lie beyond the Earth.
