About the Author
Richard Doddridge Blackmore (1825 - 1900) was one of England's most famous novelists in the second half of the nineteenth century. Blackmore was a pioneer of the movement in fiction that continued with Robert Louis Stevenson and others. His novel Lorna Doone has never gone out of print and he is credited with creating the first English-language fiction book with his novel Clara Vaughan.
