This scarce crime novel written under the pseudonym of Walter C. Butler was originally published in hardcover by the Macaulay Company in 1936. Known now mostly as a writer of western fiction and the " Dr. Kildare " series of novels the author wrote this early in his career. It was very well received by critics at the time. E.C. Beckwith of The New York Times wrote " ...the best written, most artfully constructed and thoroughly interesting crime-adventure novel published thus far within the year."
