About The Author
Seattle-born Frederick Schiller Faust (1892 - 1944) wrote western books under various pen names including Max Brand. He grew up working on a ranch in the San Joaquin Valley, California and later moved to New York. His books inspired many Hollywood films and he eventually became a screenwriter conjuring up memorable character such as Dr. Kildare. During World War II, he was commended for bravery by then President Franklin D. Roosevelt.
