An important aim in the design of this volume has been to reflect the shifts of emphasis that have taken place since the revival of modern interest in 'Metaphysical Poetry'. There has been an evident desire to see these poets in new contexts to see these poets in new contexts, and to relate them to more varied and exstensive awareness of the different kinds of poetic activity that belong to this period.
