Maeve Brennan, was an Irish short story writer and journalist. She was born in Dublin, Ireland and moved to the United States in 1934. She was a staff writer at The New Yorker for more than thirty years, and was widely read in the United States in the 1950s and 1960s. She was an important figure in both Irish diaspora writing and in Irish writing itself. Collections of her articles, short stories, and a novella have been published.
