MacKenzie Bezos

(MacKenzie Scott)
USA flag (b.1970)

MacKenzie Bezos grew up in Northern California. She wrote her first book when she was six years old, a 142-page chapter book entitled The Book Worm. This book was later lost during a flood, when the sole handwritten copy was reduced to a soup of pulp in the drawer of an old roll-top desk.

Bezos studied creative writing at Princeton, where she backed up her work obsessively. She also worked a wide variety of jobs, including dishwasher, waitress, clothing salesperson, deli cashier, restaurant hostess, library monitor, data entry clerk, tutor, nanny, and research assistant to Toni Morrison (to whom she is forever grateful).

Bezos is the recipient of an American Book Award for her first novel, The Testing of Luther Albright.
