Annie Scanlon was the daughter of a poor Irish nily in the Middle West; but she was clever, ambitious and go-ahead. She married a young nhan of the wealthy Bolton family, who was killed shortly afterwards, and thus became fabu- lously rich. Thus she appeared in London society, created a sensation-and disappeared.
