Master storytellers Kurt Busiek and David Wenzel tell the story of Bafflerog Rumplewhisker of Rumplewhisker Keep. Charged with maintaining the darkness spells that keep the once lush Land of Ever-Night subjugated to the forces of evil, it's his job to find the long-lost Book Of Worse, and ensure the triumph of evil forever. Bafflerog, aided by the magical toad Gumpwort, a youngster named Muddle (the third son of a lowly woodcutter and destined to be King someday, at least in his own mind) and a host of sorcerously-conjured alchemites, must go on a quest that takes him beyond the boundaries of the world he knows - and into the innermost depths of his own heart.
