Jan Blazanin is a former middle school teacher with an MST from Drake University. She has completed three courses from the Institute of Children's Literature, taken classes at the Iowa Summer Writing Festival, and attended numerous SCBWI conferences and workshops. When she's not writing, Jan presents writing workshops and teaches writing classes.

Jan is an avid runner, weightlifter, and observer of wildlife. She lives on an acreage with her life partner Mike, three dogs, two cats, a flock of guinea fowl, and a pond full of hardy goldfish.
