Gregory Benford is a physicist, educator, and author. A professor at the University of California at Irvine, he researches plasma turbulence theory and conducts astrophysics experiments. He is a Woodrow Wilson Fellow, has taught at Cambridge University, and has served as an adviser to the Department of Energy, NASA, and the White House Council on Space Policy. Benford won the Nebula Award in 1980 for his novel Timescape. He lives in California.
