Torpedo Tide

(1986)
A novel by

Jason Rawnsley's early days were unhappy. However he was intelligent and energetic and when World War II provided opportunities he asserted himself. He became acting CO of an old destroyer, HMS SCAVENGER. Rawnsley's impetuousness showed clearly. Some maintained his judgement was at fault. Certainly when he rammed a surfaced U-boat, this appeared to be confirmed. But as SCAVENGER accounted for bombers and E-boats as well as submarines, his reputation for keenness and courage stayed with him and won over his doubtful crew.
