When a "talent scout" turns up backstage at a small suburban theatre and offers actress Mary Bowdler a most unusual engagement, she has no idea at all of what she is letting herself in for. She is engaged for a cruise aboard the good ship "Bonaventure," but what befalls her there is truly life-changing! The ship is well equipped with slaves for the passengers -- who are all masters -- to play with, and the performances she finds herself giving are more demanding than anything she has ever experienced.
