Jake Lomax is back. Roger and Vivian Armis seek his help because they've been getting threatening phone calls from Vivian's first husband, Martin Blyleven. The main problem - Blyleven has been dead for four years. Apparently, though, Blyleven has returned from the grave, and he's demanding $400,000. If Vivian and Roger won't pay, he threatens to reclaim his old life. Part of that life is Chelsea, the five-year-old daughter he left behind with Vivian. Vivian is convinced that the caller is her "dead" husband, and she wants to pay. But Lomax is skeptical. Before he can deal with the blackmailer, he must find out if Blyleven is dead or alive.
