The Stable Affair

(2002)
A novel by

When Sarah Taylor returns to her aunt's horse farm, she sees it as a perfect place to recover from her fiancé's death and the loss of her beloved job at Boston General's Genetic Testing Unit following an allegation of carelessness in a young woman's death. A summer romance with horse show photographer Dante Devers goes a long way to healing her wounds, but a series of seeming accidents around the farm and at the shows makes her suspicious.

What if the young woman's death hadn't been an accident? What if she had been killed, and Sarah's fiancé as well? She begins to suspect a conspiracy that goes all the way to the top of the Genetic Testing Unit's hierarchy and brings into question the ethics of human research.

And then there's her lover, Dante. He seems to know more than he should about her past, and always seems to be on hand when bad luck strikes. Sarah must decide whether she can trust him with her heart and her life before she is killed by men protecting a billion dollar genetic secret. Is Dante one of them? What is the secret that he holds so close to his heart? It's up to her to find out.

From the back rooms of genetic engineering labs to the back gates of Grand Prix show jumping, this is The Stable Affair.
