The Whittler's Tale

Clementine has never seen anyone like the man whittling away by the riverside. As he tells the townspeople his wonderful stories, he carves intricate little wooden animals--animals that spring magically to life. Is the magic in the whittler's pocket knife, or is it in the wood he carves--or is it to be found somewhere else altogether?
