This is Baldwin's third novel and first in a New York trilogy, to be followed by Park Avenue Zoo and Diversities on Lower Fifth. In, Interlude, a playwright and actress face the future together after the failure of their production. Baldwin had thirteen films to her credit and Abdullah had seven, including a writing credit on Lives of a Bengal Lancer in 1935, which starred Gary Cooper.
